Saluter Meets Saluter
On May 3, 2008 at Great Meadow The Plains, Virginia, Saluter,owned by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stern and trained by Jack Fisher, was honored for his accomplishments. He retired the Virginia Gold Cup trophy in 1998 after winning his fifth consecutive Gold Cup. Saluter returned the following year to win his sixth Gold Cup. Jack Fisher rode Saluter in all of his Gold Cup victories. In 1997 he won the Gold Cup and the Marlboro Cup in England.
Hip Hop
Who needs trailers? Hip Hop walked into the Iroquois to avoid the traffic jam. Hip Hop won theFounders's Cup at the Mercedes-Benz Little Everglades Steeplechase and the Queen's CupAllowance Hurdle at the Queen's Cup.
Mary's Story
Mary McLaughlin works for Jack Fisher. She has proven herself to be indispensable to his operation.. She took five horses down to Nashville for the Iroquois. One of which was Sonny and Ann Via's Good Night Shirt who won the Iroquois on Saturday. Mary loaded up the horses, Ben and Jerry (her dogs) on Sunday morning to head back to Maryland. I passed her on 1-40 about 9:30 that morning on my way home to Camden. We chatted on the phone for a few minutes and she pulled off to get a little gas. I continued on my way and arrived home around 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon. I called Mary to check on her and left her a message to call me when she arrived. South Creek Foxhounds Attend Southern Hound Show
Several members of South Creek Foxhounds (along with 4 foxhounds) traveled to Thomasville, GA on April 4th to attend the Southern Hound Show! An adorable little baby goat even joined in the caravan for part of the trip! (It was handed off in Live Oak, Florida to it's new owner). The South Creek Foxhound members spent an enjoyable Friday evening at a lovely cocktail party hosted by Live Oak Hounds and the hounds were placed in the temporary kennels provided at the Live Oak Hound Show Grounds.
Lou Raffetto, New CEO of the National Steeplechase Association, visits LittleEverglades Ranch, home of the Mercedes-Benz Little Everglades Steeplechase
On Friday, May 16, Lou Raffetto made a trip to visit Sharon and Bob Blanchard at the Little Everglades Ranch in Dade City, Florida to discuss the possibility of the Little Everglades Steeplechase (LES) rejoining the sanctioning umbrella of the NSA.
